Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Yoga a religion?
No. Yoga is a philosophical-practical system. You can practise regardless of any belief.
Is the first class really free?
Yes. No commitment.
Do I need to be flexible?
No. Flexibility is a result of practice, not a prerequisite.
Is there a beginners' class?
No — classes are adapted to the level of each person present.
What's the difference between Yoga and Pilates?
Pilates works mainly on core strength and control of movement. Yoga goes further — body, breath, mind and attention, on a philosophical and ethical foundation. At the Āshram we offer both. Try them and feel which suits you best.
Does Yoga help with stress and anxiety?
It helps many people. Conscious breathing (prāṇāyāma) and deep relaxation (yoganidrā) calm the nervous system. It isn't magic, and it doesn't replace medical care — but it gives you real tools for handling everyday pressure. We have classes dedicated to emotional management.
Does Yoga help you lose weight?
Yoga isn't a diet or a gym routine. It can support a healthier life — more body awareness, less stress, better sleep — and that shows. If you're looking purely to lose weight fast, there are more direct paths. What Yoga gives you is deeper and longer-lasting.
What age can you start at?
Any age. We have classes for children, teenagers, adults and seniors. Yoga adapts to the person, not the other way round.
Do men practise Yoga too?
Of course. For centuries Yoga was practised by people of every gender and age — there's nothing in Yoga that's only for some.
What is Hātha Yoga?
It's the Yoga of body and energy — āsana (postures), prāṇāyāma (breathwork) and purification techniques. It's the foundation of what we practise, always connected to the ethical and mental dimension of Yoga. It isn't gymnastics: it's a doorway into something wider.
What should I bring?
Comfortable clothing. No mat needed (we have tatami). Not on a full stomach (2 hours before).
Can I practise while pregnant?
Yes. A dedicated class on Wednesdays at 9:30 AM, plus other adaptable classes. We recommend starting from the second trimester.
My child is neurodivergent. Can you help?
Yes, we've offered adapted classes since 2011. The first step is an exploratory conversation. Contact: +351 914 244 792.
Is the space wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunately not — there are steps at the entrance. We're happy to explore alternatives for sessions run at institutions.
Do you have experience with visual impairment?
Yes. We have experience teaching Yoga to blind students.
Do you have online classes?
Yes — classes marked with ★ run in person and online at the same time.
How much do classes cost?
Rates available on request — with special conditions for families, students, seniors, unemployed people and healthcare professionals.
