Yoga for Adults

You don't need to be flexible. You don't need experience. You just need to be willing to try.

In India they say that Knowledge reveals itself when we are ready. Everyone comes to Yoga with their own purpose — and everyone is welcome.

Who is it for?

For anyone who wants to know themselves more deeply, look after their body and breath, and find emotional and mental balance — whatever your age, flexibility or experience.

The practice also gives you tools to handle everyday stress in a healthier way and to build resilience. If you're looking for a practice that respects your pace and asks for no performance, this is the place.

A living tradition, adapted to our lives

We keep a direct link to the Indian tradition. What we teach is rooted in classical Haṭha Yoga and in the ethical principles of yama and niyama — guidelines not only for the mat, but for how we relate to ourselves and to the world.

At the same time, we don't live in ancient India. Work, family and the pace of modern life shape our days, so we adapt the practice to that reality — keeping the essence, making it usable. The aim isn't to copy an old practice rigidly, but to keep its wisdom alive in your own life.

What happens in a class

Each class lasts 60 to 90 minutes and is built as a whole — one coherent sequence bringing body, breath and mind together. Depending on the day, it draws on:

  • Āsana — postures and body awareness
  • Prāṇāyāma — breathing techniques that work with energy (prāṇa) and calm the nervous system
  • Yoganidrā — deep relaxation that releases physical, emotional and mental tension
  • Dhyāna — meditation, the steadying of the mind; the central aim of Yoga
  • Mantra — sound practice, from shared chanting (kīrtanam) to quiet, focused repetition (japa)
  • Mudrā and Bandha — hand gestures and muscular locks that direct attention and energy
  • Kriyā — cleansing and purification practices
  • Yantra — gazing at geometric forms to steady concentration

What changes with regular practice

  • More mobility and a freer body
  • Relief from muscle and joint tension
  • A calmer, more conscious response to stress
  • Clearer thinking and better focus
  • Deeper, more restful sleep

Yoga changes you gradually — and that's why the change lasts. Over time, many students find they relate differently to stress, to their emotions and to themselves.

Yoga without dogma

Yoga is a philosophical and practical system. Anyone can practise, whatever their beliefs, religion or background. You can approach it as a tool for health, a path of self-knowledge, a spiritual practice — or all of these at once.

Teachers

Rui Pascoal, Sónia Passos and Isabel Henriques — all trained in traditional Yoga (see our lineage), sharing the same line of teaching, each bringing their own presence.

Classes run throughout the week, in person in Vila Nova de Gaia and live online. See the full schedule →
